Establishing the Digital Asset Ecosystem in Hong Kong: From Aegis DASH to DACC

Aegis Custody Launches the Digital Asset Solution Hub (DASH) — A Catalyst for Institutional Innovation

In early 2024, Aegis Custody launched the Digital Asset Solution Hub (DASH) — a cross-institutional initiative aimed at accelerating the adoption of digital asset infrastructure among Hong Kong’s financial institutions. Located within a major Hong Kong financial hub and supported by partners including Forms HK, Infocast, and HSG, DASH was designed as a technical sandbox for banks, brokers, and asset managers to test and adopt regulated digital asset services.

The Purpose Behind DASH

DASH was created to address a clear need: while the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has made bold moves in promoting digital assets — including tokenised green bonds and stablecoin consultations — the local market lacked an integrated, hands-on environment for institutions to experiment, integrate, and validate real-world use cases.

Through DASH, participants gained access to:

  • A Custody Simulation Lab using Aegis’ cold and hot wallet infrastructure
  • Integrated tokenisation, clearing, and stablecoin settlement tools
  • Collaboration opportunities across trading systems, fund platforms, and infrastructure vendors

This real-world, institution-focused experimentation laid the groundwork for scalable deployment models — and proved that digital asset operations could meet both regulatory expectations and market demands.

From Lab to Live: The Formation of DACC

The success of DASH highlighted a growing market demand: institutions didn’t just need tools — they needed production-grade infrastructure, governed by operational and compliance standards, built specifically for post-trade finance.

This realisation led to the launch of the Digital Asset Clearing Company (DACC) — a purpose-built digital asset infrastructure company, powered by Aegis Custody technology, and designed to help regulated institutions transition into digital finance with confidence.

DACC now provides:

  • Custody infrastructure (cold and hot wallets)
  • Tokenisation and issuance tools for real-world assets (RWAs)
  • Real-time DvP settlement rails and broker integration APIs
  • Deployment flexibility (on-premise, DACC-hosted, co-managed)

Partnering to Build the Ecosystem

The formation of DACC is a direct extension of Aegis Custody’s strategy: empowering institutions to go live with digital asset services, safely and securely. DASH remains an active proving ground for ecosystem collaboration, while DACC takes those learnings and transforms them into fully operational platforms.

As Hong Kong positions itself as a digital finance hub, DACC stands ready to support:

  • Licensed brokers launching tokenized products
  • Banks building stablecoin rails and internal token ledgers
  • Asset managers issuing MMFs, bonds, and structured tokens
  • Market infrastructure players implementing post-trade digital rails

From sandbox to scale — DACC is where the future of finance gets built.
